 arsstraat 134\, Amsterdam\nARTIST BIOS &amp\; VIDEOS\n\nAtsuhiro Ito was bo
rn in 1965. He launched his career as a visual artist in the late '80s\, an
d in '98 began presenting sound performances at art exhibitions and so on.
Ito made use of fluorescent lighting (which is also an element of his art i
nstallations) in the creation of an original musical device called the optr
on. He continues to refine the instrument while approaching sound and music
from a contemporary-art-based perspective. In addition to his solo exhibit
ion and performance projects\, Ito is active in a number of musical units.
One of these is Optrum\, the explosively loud "extreme optical noise core b
and" consisting of Ito and drummer Yoichiro Shin. Between 2000 and 2005 Ito
presented various sound (music)/visual image-related events at Off Site\,
the now-defunct gallery/free space in Yoyogi\, Tokyo. The Optrum album Reco
rded was released in June 2006 on the label Unknownmix (Headz).\n\nBorn in
1978\, Christine Abdelnour lives in France but is of Lebanese origin. After
discovering improvised music in 1997 she began a process of self-taught st
udy and sound experimentation using the alto saxophone.\nShe has developed
a unique personal language\, producing sounds that are close to those of el
ectroacoustic music but on a purely acoustic instrument.\nShe approaches so
und as a malleable material\, rich in concrete textures which combine breat
h\, silence and countless acoustic distortions. She has developed extended
techniques and complex patterns of sound production\, exploring the microto
nal aspects of the saxophone and its high-pitched tones. She employs subtle
  tonguing techniques\, unpitched breaths\, spittle-flecked growls\, biting\
, slicing notes and breathy echoing sounds from the bell of her horn. Far f
rom any narrative effects\, her music addresses the relation between listen
ing and concepts of perception\, time and space.\nAndy Moor was born in Lon
don in 1962. He began his musical life in Edinburgh\, Scotland playing guit
ar with the band Dog Faced Hermans\, a multi faceted eclectic group that mi
xed energetic post punk energy with traditional tunes and improvisations….
In 1990 he moved to the Netherlands after an invitation to join Dutch band
The Ex and continues to be a full time member of this band….the openess and
versatility of the musicians in this group has brought them intocontact wi
th many musicians from different scenes and backgrounds..including Tom Cora
 (cello)\, Han Bennink(drums)\, Wolter Wierbos(trombone)\, Djibril Diabate (
kora) John Butcher (sax) and Anne james Chaton (sound poet).\n\ndj sniff is
listening to Coco Solid and THEESatisfaction\n
