6th edition of CalArts exchange program at STEIM
Located in Valencia California, CalArts has been one of the traditional hubs for experimental new music and art on the United States West Coast. Since 2007, STEIM and the CalArts Experimental Sound Practices program have established an exchange program where a group of promising masters students come to STEIM for an intensive 2-week project residency in our studios.
For our 6th edition, Professor Clay Chaplin returns with a hand-picked group of artists investigating new areas in performance and instrument design. In this end-residency open studio concert they will present the results of their time at STEIM.
Heather Lockie, Jeff Bryant, Justin Asher, Kristen Erikson, and Clay Chaplin
In order to participate in the performance by Kristen Erikson we ask that you please bring along an iphone, ipad, or ipod touch and a pair of earbuds. You will need to download the UDID app (free) to your device prior to the concert.

CALARTS Experimental Sound Practices
“The Experimental Sound Practices program was established for musicians, composers, and sound artists with a strong musical background who want to explore the more radical branches of contemporary sound. While coursework provides a strong foundation in the theory and application of digital media as well as the critical issues surrounding it, making work and presenting it in concert or installation is the key. Opportunities to hear your work include the school-sponsored ESP Nights and the student-run Sounding Out series, as well as self-produced events in our concert halls or other spaces around CalArts.
