Diemo Schwarz, Hans Leeuw & HKU student presentations

IRCAM researcher Diemo Schwarz finishes his 4-day advanced Max/MSP workshop with collaboration performing together with local musician and educator Hans Leeuw. Hans will reveal his new improved Electrumpet ver.2 in the performance and also explain some of the new features. Additionally, 4 student projects from this year's HKU instrument design class will be presented.

Open Studio Night @ STEIM

The evening of May 12 will be Open Studio night at STEIM. On this very special night all of our studios, labs and ateliers will be open to the public. Not that they aren't pretty open anyway, but this night is special. There will be guided tours, artist demos, and a chance to talk one-on-one with the creative professionals who make the magic happen at STEIM.

Conservatory Amsterdam Live Electronics Workshop

Public Presentation of New Works




STEIM hosts an introductory course of the Conservatory of Amsterdam. This short course, taught by Jos Zwaanenburg, will take nine days (per group one 3-hour session a day) and makes use of STEIM's LiSa and JunXion to work on "traditional instrument plus live electronic extension". On Friday April 29th at 8 p.m. there will be a final public presentation of the pieces, prepared during the course.

"Wave Field Synthesis (WFS) is a sound production technology designed specifically for spatial audio rendering. Virtual acoustic environments are simulated and synthesized using large numbers of loudspeakers. The innovation of this technology is that sound can appear to emanate from desired virtual starting points, and then move through space in many possible defined spatial pathways."
