STEIM & Mediamatic: Hack Queensday!

STEIM and Mediamatic are teaming up to celebrate Queensday in the best way possible: through a two-day soiree of all things found and bent. Join us the weekend of May 5-6 for workshops and performances exploring the creative (mis)use of found electronics through the art of circuit bending.

Pioneered and popularized by creative figures like Reed Ghazala, Michel Waisvisz, and Nicolaas Collins, the practice and philosophy of circuit bending is about finding unheard sounds through the hands-on modification of electronics. Today the ideas of circuit bending have extended to all realms of creative hardware and have become symbolic of the desire of artists to reclaim ownership of their tools.

Queensday, with its oceans of old and unwanted consumer devices, is a gold mine of possibilities! We can’t wait to see what you’ve found.
