This Thursday we have a wonderfully eclectic and engaging concert program at STEIM. Under his solo project Concern, Portland based Gordon Ashworth creates “colossal shimmer that sounds like Tim Hecker reconfiguring classic Raga structures into something almost unspeakably beautiful. Amazing music” (Boomcat) Canadian sound-visual artist Freida Abtan’s work is illusive and seductive with sounds and images morphing through our perceptual fields. (check out an interview with her here) And STEIM’s one and only Byugjun Kwon is a master at performing with hand-made instruments with a lyricism that you would of never of imagined would be possible with such objects. Check out their work below.
On Saturday during Amsterdam Musuem Night 2010, STEIM will be showing it’s own Mobile Touch Exhibition and Yes, Wii can! a new multiplayer installation at the Nemo Science Museum. We will also be supporting the Optofonica program which will feature some great artists.
